Stamped concrete is poured in place and textured while it's still wet, so the pattern is part of a solid slab, not a thin coating laid over the top. We don't do decorative overlays. They're thin, they trap moisture, and in the Florida sun and rain they crack and peel within a few seasons. A properly poured, stamped and sealed slab is one surface, and it holds up.

Central Florida is hard on concrete, and stamped work is no different, so the prep matters as much as the pattern. On sandy Polk County soil we compact and build the base properly and reinforce the slab so it doesn't settle or crack as the ground moves underneath it.
We plan the control joints and slope the surface for the afternoon downpours, so water sheds instead of standing. Around pools and lanais we lean toward lighter integral colors that stay cooler underfoot, and a textured stamp that still grips when it's wet. Then we seal it, which locks in the color and protects against UV, pool chemicals and salt air. Reseal it every few years and a stamped slab keeps its color for a long time. Is stamped concrete just an overlay on my old slab?
No. We pour a new, reinforced slab and stamp the pattern into it while it's wet, so the finish is part of solid concrete. We don't do thin decorative overlays — they crack and peel in the Florida sun. If you have sound existing concrete you'd rather keep, ask us about resurfacing instead.
Does stamped concrete get too hot or slippery around a pool?
Color and texture are what matter. Lighter integral colors stay noticeably cooler underfoot than dark ones, and a textured stamp grips when it's wet. We'll help you pick a color and pattern that's comfortable for bare feet around the pool.
How long does it last down here?
Because it's real poured concrete on a proper base, the slab itself lasts decades. The color lives in the sealer, so plan on a reseal every few years to keep it looking new — a little more often if it takes full sun all day.
